I am on chapter 6 in the Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta have just entered the city circle on a chariot. A text to text connection I have with the book so far is with Fahrenheit 451. Both Fahrenheit 451 and the Hunger Games are distopian and have over powerful governments. Also both of the protagonists are trying to make a change while facing both mental and physical obstacles.
A text to world connection I found is the French revolution. Both the capitol and the first estate, a social class mostly made up of powerful church officials, oppress and bring fear to the ones below them. The capitol restricts and forces labor while the first estate forces labor and taxes heavily.
A text to self connection a have with the hunger games is that both Katniss and I take advantage of luxuries. Katniss will not pass up food and will use hot water when given the opportunity and I also take advantage by showering and eating when I please.The difference is I am accustomed to these luxuries while Katniss is experiencing these for the first time.How you read the Hunger Games?
